Licensing

Image licence

Terms for the photographs, diagrams and title cards published on this blog, and how to ask for permission to use one.

Ownership

Unless an image carries a credit naming someone else, every image on this blog is the original work of Pensieve Labs and is protected by copyright. Each image also carries its creator and copyright notice in the page's structured data, so the claim a machine reads and the claim written here are the same claim.

What you may do without asking

You may link to any page on this blog, and you may quote from an article with attribution. Reporting on, reviewing or criticising our work may reproduce an image where the law of your jurisdiction already permits it — fair dealing and fair use are not affected by anything on this page.

What needs permission

Republishing, redistributing, modifying or using an image commercially, including in a presentation, a product, a training dataset or another website, needs written permission first. We are not precious about it and we usually say yes; we would simply rather know where our work is being used.

Requesting a licence

Write to info@pensievelabs.orgwith the page the image appears on and what you intend to do with it. Tell us the publication or product, the territory and how long you need it for, and we will reply with terms.

Third-party images

Where an image belongs to someone else, its credit names them and its licence points at their terms rather than at this page. Those terms govern that image, not these.

Elsewhere

Pensieve Labs publishes in a few places, and a request may belong to one of the others rather than to this blog.
